Taekwon-Do is, arguably, the most dynamic and academic martial art in the world, with a genuine ranking system, code of ethics, conduct, cultural discipline and promotion of health, well-being and personal safety, it is also the most popular of all martial arts.

Who invented Taekwon-Do?
General Choi Hong Hi, the Founder of Taekwon-Do, was born on November 9th, 1918 in the rugged, harsh area of Hwa Dae in the Myong Chun District, in what is now the D.P.R.K. (North Korea). Throughout his childhood he was a very frail and sickly boy which was a constant source of worry for his parents. However, the future General to the South Korean Army showed a strong willed and independent spirit.

Who is First Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha, Patron of the ITFA?
On the 20th of March 1938 in Seoul, Korea, the ‘Greatest ever Taekwon-Do student’ was born. This honour was bestowed on my Father, Rhee Ki Ha, by the Founder of Taekwon-Do himself, General Choi Hong Hi. Taekwon-Do is the official martial art of Korea after being adopted by the country on April 11 1955.

Who is the Founder, Chief Instructor & Chief Examiner of the ITFA?
Born in January 1970, Senior Master Andrew K H Rhee is the eldest of FGMR’s five children. His parents met in Coventry, England, after his father, First Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha (FGMR) relocated to the UK following a period spent running the Taekwon-Do organisation in Singapore.
