The first half of the year has had it’s fair share of challenges but our ITFA Taekwon-Do Students have really learnt about and practiced the third Takewon-Do Tenet ‘Perseverance’. As our doors shut during the COVID19 lockdown, Senior Master Rhee (SMR) moved the training online via our ViRTUAL Taekwon-Do platform that he started in 2013. SMR, Mr Pritchard (ITFA Rockhampton), Mr Strong, Mr Collins (ITFA Sale) and Mr Bennett (ITFA HQ) came together to provide a ViRTUAL timetable with training options during the day and into the evening to keep our students progressing and learning through that time.
As the pandemic was brought under control in Australia and the restrictions eased, all clubs were able to run ITFA Colour Belt Gradings to ensure that all students who had trained so diligently on ViRTUAL could have the chance to promote. There were some modifications to the syllabus to maintain social distancing but it was a hugely successful end to the lockdown period with all students applying to grade passing their examination.
At ITFA HQ, a second Colour Belt Grading was held a month later at the end of the NSW school holidays to allow anyone committed to training hard to ‘catch up’ with a second opportunity to grade. Twenty students were again successful promoting to their next grade.
ITFA HQ opens with it’t full Term 3 timetable tomorrow Monday 20th July. All student who are eligible to use their Active Kids Vouchers can get a whole month of training for free which certainly helps coming out of lockdown. The students are all eager to get going learning their new syllabus. Fingers crossed for an uneventful Term 3 in terms of COVID19 so everyone can work hard to promote on Saturday 20th September 2020.
